FAQ

Got questions?

Learning to drive comes with lots of questions — and that’s completely normal! Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions from students and parents. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, just get in touch and I’ll be happy to help.

Do I need a Learner Licence before starting lessons?

Yes — by law you must hold a current Learner Licence (meaning you’ve passed the theory test) before we can begin practical driving lessons. If you haven’t got one yet, I can give you tips and guidance on preparing for the theory test.

Can I use my own car for lessons, or do I need to use your dual-control car?

You can do either! You’re welcome to use my dual-control automatic car, which is perfect for beginners and test prep, or your own vehicle if you’re more comfortable. I’ll tailor the lesson to suit the car and your learning style.

How do I book a lesson, and what payment options are available?

Booking is simple — just get in touch via the website, phone, or email. Lessons can be paid as you go, or you can prepay a lesson pack. I accept cash, bank deposit, Visa, or Mastercard.

Can you accommodate students with special needs or learning differences?

Absolutely. I’ve worked with students with Autism, Asperger’s, and other learning differences. Lessons are tailored to each student’s pace and comfort level, with extra patience, support, and clear instruction.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson?

I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This helps me manage my schedule and offer the slot to another student. Late cancellations may incur a charge, as outlined in the Terms of Trade.

Do you offer lessons outside Pāpāmoa and Tauranga?

Yes — I can travel to surrounding areas within reason. For locations further out, please check with me in advance to confirm availability and travel arrangements.

Can you accompany me on my driving test for support?

Yes — if you’d like, I can come along as a support person during your test. Many students find it helps reduce nerves and boosts confidence on the big day.
